Crew’s Resume

New friends may want to know something about our boating experience - here is a list of our on-the-water activities these past 40 some years.

Skipper: Adie First Mate: Jo

Boat Ownership:

1965 to 1973 - Skipper for Wind n’ Sea Sailing Club of Marina del Rey. Duties - taught all aspects of sailing, coastal cruising and navigation to members on yachts ranging from 28′ to 52′.

1970 to 1973 - Co-owners of 36′ Alden Sloop in charter to Wind n’ Sea.

1975 to 1979 -Owner of Columbia 23′ Sloop.

1979 to 1990 - Owner of Alajuela 33′ Cutter. Extensive cruising from Point Conception to the Mexican Boarder.

1992 to 1995 - Co-owners of Beneteau Idylle 51 in charter with Rainbow Moorings in Fiji.

2000 to 2006 - Owner of Mainship 39’ trawler – 6000 mile cruise around eastern rivers, lakes, and inter-coastal waterways. West Coast cruising from Ensenada, Mexico to San Francisco.

2007 to Present – Owner of a Selene 43’ trawler – currently cruising from Seattle, Washington to Skagway, Alaska.

Racing:

1968 to 1992 - Participated as skipper or crew in numerous offshore races including Ventura to Newport and annual Newport to Ensenada Race to Mexico.

Chartering:

1975 to 1997 - Bareboat Chartering Experience in British and US Virgins, Lower Caribbean from Antigua to St Vincent, New Zealand, Tonga, Bahamas, Turkey, Canada, Vanautu, Australia, Greece, and Yugoslavia.

Business:

1979 to 1998 - Worked with Roger Miles and Rainbow on numerous projects including behind the booth West Coast boat shows, design and implementation of marketing campaigns, and other special projects such as tourism and immigration to New Zealand.

Cruising Experience:

‘66 -’74 - Wind n’ Sea Club with extensive day sailing and cruising in Southern California waters from Point Conception to San Diego.

May ‘68 - Cinco de Mayo Race - Newport to Ensenada, Mexico

‘75 - ‘79 - Marina del Rey to Catalina Island - multiple trips. Coastal Cruising: San Diego, Newport, Los Angeles

‘79 - ‘90 - Extensive cruising of Channel Islands area and from San Maguel to San Clemente, and coast from Santa Barbara to San Diego, California.

’00 – ’01 - Great Circle Cruise – started north in the Chesapeake Bay, moved down Delaware Bay and around Cape May, into the Atlantic, up the coast of New Jersey to New York City. From there we headed inland, up the Hudson River across Lake Champlain all the way to the St. Lawrence Seaway to Montreal. Then west into Lake Ontario and up the Trent-Severn Canal that cuts across Canada to Georgian Bay on Lake Huron. We hugged the north shore of this Bay all the way to Lake Michigan and came down its eastern shore to Chicago.

From Chicago we took the Sanitary Canal to the Illinois River, to the Mississippi River, through St. Louis, and eventually up the Ohio to the Tennessee River – then continued in late October to the Tombigbee Canal and onto Mobile Bay on the Gulf of Mexico. After a overnight crossing of the Gulf, we had Thanksgiving in Tarpon Springs continuing south for our winter in Key West. In the Spring, we finally continued north up the East Coast on the Intercoastal Waterway and into the Chesapeake Bay by the end of May.

‘05 - Repositioned Wandering Star from San Diego to Sausalito with stops in Newport Harbor, Two Harbors on Catalina Island, Prisoners Harbor on Santa Cruz Island, Ventura Harbor, Santa Barbara, Morro Bay, Monterey Bay, and Santa Cruz.

’05 - Navigator and crew for Baja Ha Ha - 1000 nautical mile trip from San Diego to LA Paz, Mexico - aboard Dreamweaver, a 42′ Sevega Trawler.

’07 – Currently cruising on Wandering Star II at the beginning of a five year voyage that will take us from Alaska to Maine through the Panama Canal.

Current Activity

We are cruising up the Inside Passage from Seattle with stops in the San Juan Islands, Vancouver, Princess Louise Inlet, Desolation Sound, through the Dent Rapids, Blind Channel, Johnstone Straits, Queen Charlotte Straits, around Cape Caution, to Bella Bella, Prince Rupert, passed the Dixon Entrance, to Ketchikan, Wrangell, Petersburg, up the Tracy Arm, then on to Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay and Sitka with return to Seattle in the Fall.
